Por favor, no se rían de mí: estaba a punto de echarla, ¡pero no estaba segura de si era lo correcto!. Puedes rezarle al Señor, o a la Diosa, o a la Verdad Universal - puedes meditar y esperar intuiciones e inspiraciones susurradas por tu Ser Superior... Pero al final, una vez más - tendrás que decidir tú si estás de acuerdo con lo que has escuchado - y si actúas en consecuencia o no. Intenta por más que puedas evitar el hecho de que la Incertidumbre te acecha - proyecta por más que puedas el Conocimiento Absoluto en hojas de té o gurús o escrituras o susurros - tú que vives con la Incertidumbre dentro de ti - no puedes escaparte de ti mism@. ¡Cualquiera sea el camino que tomes, siempre acabas de vuelta en ti! III A mí me pasó lo mismo, ya sabes - tengo una Incertidumbre que vive en mi habitación de invitad@s, ahora - pero antes vivía en mi sótano. Tal vez sea lo mismo para tod@s... Tengo un amigo cuya Incertidumbre vive feliz en una tienda de campaña en el otro extremo de su jardín, con los insectos y pájaros y árboles. Y otro amigo cuya Incertidumbre solo aparece cuando se la invita... A ellos les pasaba lo mismo, y a mí me pasaba lo mismo, como ahora te ocurre a ti: por muchas cartas del Tarot que estudiaba, por muchos Darshans a los que asistía, por mucho que escuchaba atentamente la voz silenciosa de Dios - siempre acababa siendo yo con mi Incertidumbre contradictoria y confusa sentada a mi lado, sintiéndome molesto - siempre indeciso. Hasta que, es decir, una noche, érase una vez... mi Incertidumbre me llevó de viaje en un sueño - y vi a Millones de Incertidumbres encadenadas - condenadas al silencio - desterradas de las mentes a las que pertenecían. Vi a Incertidumbres muriendo de hambre. Vi a Incertidumbres siendo golpeadas. Vi a Incertidumbres que habían perdido toda esperanza. Me mostró a Brujas con sus Incertidumbres hechizadas, a Judíos, Cristianos y Musulmanes con sus Incertidumbres atadas con creencias, a Buenos Ciudadanos con sus Incertidumbres atadas con leyes, y a Amantes con sus Incertidumbres atadas con votos. Aquella noche sentí el dolor de nuestras Incertidumbres. Sentí su humildad y su bondad - y cómo, aunque podamos olvidar, ellas nunca olvidan que no somos omnipresentes ni omniscientes. Así que a la mañana siguiente, cuando mi Incertidumbre salió de su sótano, y se sentó a mi lado en el desayuno - sentí una nueva ternura hacia ella. “Me alegro de que no estés encadenada, o atada de alguna manera”, dije - y sintiendo (debo admitir) bastante vergüenza - la invité a subir del sótano a la habitación de invitad@s. Desde entonces, a lo largo de los años, nos hemos hecho amigas. Comemos siempre juntas- y he llegado a estar cómoda viviendo con ella. He llegado a estar cómoda viviendo sin saber - ¡y he ahorrado bastante dinero en lecturas de Tarot, talleres con Gurús, y libros sobre La Verdad Más Verdadera! Desde entonces, mis pensamientos han sido más suaves. Desde entonces, con quienquiera que me encuentre, me pregunto por el bienestar de su Incertidumbre. ¡Espero que esté cómoda y bien alimentada! Desde entonces, ya no vivo en un mundo de bien y mal, en un mundo de pisos de arriba y pisos de abajo... ´Peace and Love´ was a wonderful slogan – with which to oppose. It was easy to shout aloud at demonstrations against the Vietnam War - but it wasn´t so easy to live! Many people, especially the young people of the 1960´s, realised this. “How can we advocate for Peace and Love if we can´t live it ourselves?” they asked. And so activism took a step back from the political arena – into self-enquiry, therapy and spirituality. And The Consciousness Movement was born. A necessary step, perhaps. But today, at the beginning of the twenty first century - as synthetic environments, superficiality, and centralised, digital control become frighteningly normalised – many of us feel we need to come together again. We feel we need to reunite our consciousness and our activism. We feel we need to become conscious activists for decentralised, nature-embedded, deep, beautiful, cooperative, local cultures. But how? I saw Uncertainties who had lost all hope..." Faith was distressed: “Uncertainty has always haunted me, like a ghost. But lately it´s got worse. She used to follow me everywhere - but now she sleeps in my bed! When I cook breakfast, she cooks it with me! When I go to the toilet she come with me! She lives inside me! She even gets in my dreams! There are two sides to everything, and she always shows me the other. When I say up, she says down - and I end up spinning around! Please don´t laugh at me: I was going to kick her out, but I wasn´t sure if that was the right thing to do! And it´s not just relationship decisions, or career decisions - Uncertainty haunts my understanding of Life Itself.” “I hear you! I hear you!” I said, and asked “So what to do? II You can ask the Tarot cards. But in the end, you will have to interpret the spread. You can go to a Tarot card reader, or a medium, or a channeler, or some other sincere or insincere deliverer of messages from beyond the edges of our everyday perception - but in the end you will have to decide how you understand what they tell you, and whether or how you apply it or not. You can pray to The Lord, or The Goddess, or to Universal Truth - you can meditate and wait for intuitions and inspirations whispered by your Higher Self... But in the end, once again - you will have to decide whether you agree with what you´ve heard - and whether you act upon it or not. Try as you may to avoid the fact that Uncertainty haunts you - project as you may Absolute Knowing on tea leaves or gurus or scriptures or whispers - you who live with Uncertainty inside you - you cannot escape yourself. Whichever way you go, you always end up back at yourself! III It was the same for me too, you know - I have an Uncertainty who lives in my guestroom, now - but once she lived in the basement. Perhaps it´s the same for us all... I have a friend whose Uncertainty lives happily in a tent at the far end of his garden, with the insects and birds and trees. And another friend whose Uncertainty only appears when invited... It´s was the same for them, and it was the same for me, as now it is for you: however many Tarot cards I studied, however many darshans I sat in, however intently I listened to the silent voice of God - I always ended up being me with my contradicting, confusing Uncertainty sitting next to me, annoyingly - ever undecided. Until, that is, one night, once upon a time... my Uncertainty took me on a journey in a dream - and I saw Millions of Uncertainties in chains - sentenced to silence - banished from the minds to which they belonged. I saw Uncertainties starving. I saw Uncertainties being beaten. I saw Uncertainties who had lost all hope. She showed me Witches with their Uncertainties spellbound, Jews and Chrstians and Muslims with their Uncertainties bound in beliefs, Good Citizens with their Uncertainties bound in laws, and Lovers with their Uncertainties bound in vows. That night I felt the pain of our Uncertainties. I felt their humility and their kindness - and how though we may forget, they never forget we´re not omnipresent or omniscient. So the next morning, when my Uncertainty came up from the basement, and sat down beside me at breakfast - I felt a new tenderness towards her. “I am pleased you are not in chains, or bound in some way” I said - and feeling (I must admit) quite some shame - I invited her up from the basement to the guestroom. Since then, over the years, we´ve become friends. We take all of our meals together - and I have become comfortable living with her. I have become comfortable not knowing - and I´ve saved a lot of money on Tarot Readings, workshops with Gurus, and books on The Truest Truth! Since then my thoughts have become softer. Since then whomever I meet I wonder about the wellbeing of their Uncertainty. I do hope she´s comfortable and well fed! Since then I no longer live in a right and wrong world - an upstairs, downstairs world... Hi Everyone... I hear many people say they want be part of the co-creation of a new culture – a New Earth. I hear them explain, passionately, how necessary and urgent this is... But how can we co-create a new culture (or a decentralised, diversified, culture of cultures), alone? My answer is: we can´t! We have to get together. We have to form “tribes”. And this won´t happen by itself. This won´t happen if we just carry on living the way we´ve been living... * I propose the principle I call “Radical Honesty” as a way of coming together, and staying together... Learning to Live in Love: The Path of Radical Honesty I When we fall in love we see each other. We see each other´s beauty - and not just our physical beauty - we see the beauty of each other´s being - the beauty of who we are. It´s joyful to see each other in this way, and be-seen by each other in this way. It´s as if we´ve been touched by grace - and maybe we have! We feel life is magical - full of possibilities. We feel a delicious eroticism in our bodies - even when we´re not together. And we feel a delicious happiness in our hearts - whatever´s going on around us. People look at us - and they know... “John´s in love! Just look at him!” “Mary´s in love! Just look at her!” We are in love, people can see it. We glow with love. II Two or three years later - who is still in this state? I would say: almost no one! Why not? What has happened? This is a very important question. Because if we know the answer we can ask - is this loss inevitable? We can ask is it possible to stay in love? III Well here is a radical, and perhaps challenging answer: not only is it possible to stay in love with one person, it´s possible to stay in love with everyone! It´s possible to live in love! This doesn´t mean being in an intimate relationship with everyone! Of course not! It means that - just as we saw the beauty of our lover´s being when we first met - it´s possible to see the beauty of everyone´s being. But... Yes, there is a “but”! To see the beauty of everyone´s being - we have to first see the beauty of our own. We have to fall in love with ourselves! IV This means facing, accepting and embracing everything about ourselves. Everything! And we can only face ourselves in the present moment. Because that´s where we are! So it means learning to live in the present - more and more and more fully. And learning to manage everything in us that pulls us out of the present moment. I call this The Path of Radical Honesty. It requires commitment. It is a path of self-knowledge - because the present moment is a mystery – and the deeper we go into the present moment, the deeper we go into the mystery. But gradually, little by little - as we give up trying to be what we´re not - and stop pretending to know what we don´t know - and let ourselves be what we always were... then, then... because you are in love with yourself, and I am in love with myself - when we meet - we find ourselves in love together. And even when we meet people who are not in love with themselves we love them. We come to live in love. * I´m sorry, but I just don´t see how people plan to create something new unless they´re prepared (a) to link up with others, in a very deep way, and (b) make some extreme changes in their behaviours and habits. How to do this? In my opinion, and in general terms: it is moving towards the rule of A.I., Bio-Digital Technology, Genetic Modification, Transhumanism, The Internet of Bodies and Things, Smart Cities, CBDC´s, Social Credit Systems, Technocracy, Eugenics, in short - just as the Judeo-Christian Bible says “God created man in his own image” - I believe humanity´s leadership-and-led, entranced by a vision of a Mechanical Universe, is now, at the outset of the twenty first century, seeking to create a techno-modified Mechanical Earth.” From Love & Revolution, Chapter 25 I think many, many people would agree with this last paragraph... L@s oigo explicar, apasionadamente, lo necesario y urgente que es... Pero, ¿cómo podemos co-crear una nueva cultura (o una cultura descentralizada, diversificada – una cultura-de-culturas ) sol@s? Mi respuesta es: ¡no podemos! Tenemos que unirnos. Tenemos que formar “tribus”. Y esto no ocurrirá solo. No ocurrirá si seguimos viviendo como hasta ahora... * Propongo el principio que llamo “Honestidad Radical” como forma de unirnos, y permanecer unid@s... Aprendiendo a Vivir en el Amor: El Camino de la Honestidad Radical I Cuando nos enamoramos nos vemos. Vemos la belleza del otro, de la otra - y no sólo la belleza física - vemos la belleza del ser del otro, de la otra - la belleza de quiénes somos. Es alegre vernos de esta manera, y ser vist@s de esta manera. Es como si hubiéramos sido tocad@s por la gracia - ¡y tal vez así sea! Sentimos que la vida es mágica - llena de posibilidades. Sentimos un delicioso erotismo en nuestros cuerpos - incluso cuando no estamos junt@s. Y sentimos una deliciosa felicidad en nuestros corazones - pase lo que pase a nuestro alrededor. La gente nos mira - y sabe... "¡Juan está enamorado! ¡Míralo!" "¡María está enamorada! ¡Mírala!" Estamos enamorad@s, la gente lo puede ver - brillamos de amor. II Dos o tres años después, ¿quién sigue en este estado? Yo diría que casi nadie. ¿Por qué no? ¿Qué ha pasado? Esta es una pregunta muy importante. Porque si conocemos la respuesta, podemos preguntar: ¿Es inevitable esta pérdida? Podemos preguntar si es posible seguir enamorad@s. III Pues bien, aquí hay una respuesta radical y tal vez desafiante: no sólo es posible seguir enamorad@ de una persona, ¡es posible seguir enamorad@ de tod@s! ¡Es posible vivir enamorad@! ¡Esto no significa tener una relación íntima con tod@s! ¡Por supuesto que no! Significa que - así como vimos la belleza del ser de nuestro amante cuando nos conocimos - es posible ver la belleza del ser de tod@s. Pero... ¡Sí, hay un “pero”! Para ver la belleza del ser de cada un@, primero tenemos que ver la belleza de nuestro propio ser. ¡Tenemos que enamorarnos de nosotr@s mism@s! IV Esto significa afrontar, aceptar y abrazar todo sobre un@ mism@. ¡Todo! Y solo podemos afrontarnos a nosotr@s mism@s en el momento presente. ¡Porque ahí es donde estamos! Por lo tanto, significa aprender a vivir en el presente, cada vez más y más y más plenamente. Y aprender a gestionar todo lo que hay en nosotr@s que nos saca del momento presente. Esto lo llamo El Camino de la Honestidad Radical. Requiere compromiso. Es un camino de auto-conocimiento - porque el momento presente es un misterio - y cuanto más profundamente entramos en el momento presente, más profundamente entramos en el misterio. Pero gradualmente, poco a poco, a medida que dejamos de intentar ser lo que no somos, y dejamos de pretender saber lo que no sabemos, y nos permitimos ser lo que siempre fuimos... entonces, entonces... como estás tú enamorad@ de ti mism@, y yo estoy enamorad@ de mí mism@, cuando nos encontramos, nos encontramos enamorad@s junt@s. Incluso cuando conocemos a personas que no están enamoradas de sí mismas, las amamos. Llegamos a vivir en el amor. * Lo siento, pero no entiendo cómo la gente puede crear algo nuevo a menos que esté dispuesta a (a) vincularse con otr@s, de manera muy profunda, y (b) hacer algunos cambios extremos en sus comportamientos y hábitos. ¿Cómo hacerlo? Nos hemos acostumbrado tanto a la fragmentación social, estamos tan acostumbrad@s a la individualización - que simplemente no echamos de menos El Sentimieneto de Tribu . No la anhelamos. No nos anhelamos. No anhelamos estar cerca un@s de otr@s - y viajar como-comunidad por la vida. Estamos de acuerdo, intelectualmente, en la necesidad de la comunidad descentralizada, enraizada en la naturaleza, consciente, solidaria - ¡pero no la sentimos! No se nos revuelven las entrañas de anhelo. No estamos desesperad@s por ello. Y la evolución social radical no está impulsada por el intelecto, ¡está impulsada por entrañas que se revuelven! Visualizamos pueblos indígenas marginados, adictos al alcohol, metanfetamina y pegamento, desarraigados de la profunda espiritualidad de sus tradiciones ancestrales - pudriéndose en reservas. No entendemos que somos esos pueblos indígenas - que nosotr@s mism@s hemos sido separad@s de la tierra, y un@s de otr@s - de nuestras propias historias ancestrales, canciones y celebraciones estacionales - de nuestras propias formas de dar a luz, y honrar a l@s muert@s - separad@s de nuestra dignidad. De alguna manera no tenemos claro que nos han domesticado, y nos han puesto a trabajar en tareas sin sentido - que nos han individualizado - que nos hemos vuelto adict@s al escapismo superficial - y que las ciudades son nuestras reservas. No echamos de menos el canto de los pájaros al amanecer, porque no lo hemos oído durante generaciones. No echamos de menos los lazos inquebrantables de la hermandad, porque se han roto durante generaciones. No sentimos la necesidad de defender apasionadamente todo lo que dice "¡sí!" a la vida, porque hemos estado cómodamente entumecid@s durante generaciones. II Y sin embargo, y sin embargo, ¡aquí estoy escribiendo sobre ello! A pesar de todo, los ecos del Sentimiento de Tribu nos llegan de todos modos. Olores extraños, familiares y olvidados-hace-tiempo nos llegan - recordándonos algo que no podemos ubicar... A veces es en la pista de baile... A veces sentimos que la música nos mueve a tod@s - y durante unos momentos, sabemos - que somos uno. A veces asistimos a un taller de desarrollo personal. La gente es tan abierta, transparente, vulnerable... Nos vemos a nosotr@s mism@s en los demás - y somos una Tribu, por un fin de semana. Por supuesto, tendrás tus propios recuerdos de momentos en los que tú también, sentiste y supiste El Sentimiento de Tribu... Sin embargo, ya sea por el agotamiento de lo cotidiano, o la impersonalidad de la vida de la ciudad, o la presión de atender otras prioridades - no añoramos Nuestra Tribu. No extrañamos esa profundidad de intimidad existencial. Nos hemos acostumbrado a vidas superficiales y separadas. Hemos olvidado la belleza de la pertenencia profunda. Hemos olvidado la gloria, la libertad. Hemos olvidado la unión, el amor. Hemos olvidado la alegría del significado y propósito compartidos... We have become so accustomed to social fragmentation, so accustomed to individualisation - we just don´t miss The Feeling of Tribe. We don´t long for it. We don´t long for each other. We don´t long to be close to each other - to travel as-a-community through life. We agree, intellectually, on the need for decentralised, nature-based, conscious, caring community - but we don´t feel it! Our guts aren´t churning with longing. We are not desperate for it. And radical social evolution isn´t driven by the intellect, it´s driven by guts that churn! We visualise disenfranchised, indigenous peoples, addicted to alcohol, meths and glue - uprooted from the deep soulfulness of their ancestral traditions - rotting on reservations. We don´t understand that we are those indigenous peoples - that we ourselves have been separated from the land, and each other - from our own ancestral stories and songs and seasonal celebrations - from our own ways of giving birth and honouring tbe dead - separated from our dignity. It is somehow unclear to us that we have been domesticated, and set to work on tasks without meaning - that we have been individualised - that we have been addicted to superficial escapism - and that the cities are our reservations. We don´t miss the birdsong at dawn, because we haven´t heard it for generations. We don´t miss the unbreakable bonds of siblinghood, because they´ve been shattered for generations. We don´t feel the need to make a passionate stand for all that says "yes!" to life, because we´ve been comfortably numb for generations. II And yet, and yet - here I am writing about it! Despite it all - echoes of The Feeling of Tribe reach us nonetheless. Odd, long-forgotten, familiar smells reach us, reminding us of something we can´t quite place... Sometimes it´s on the dance floor... Sometimes we feel the music moving us all - and for a while, we know - we are one. Sometimes we attend a self-development workshop. People are so open, transparent, vulnerable... We see ourselves in each other - and we are a tribe, for a weekend. You will, of course, have your own memories - times when you too, for a while, felt and knew The Feeling of Tribe... Yet whether because of the exhaustion of the everyday, or the impersonality of city life, or the pressure to attend to other priorities - we don´t yearn for Our Tribe. We don´t miss that depth of existential intimacy. We´ve become accustomed to shallow and separate lives. We have forgotten the beauty of deep belonging. We have forgotten the gloriousness - the freedom. We have forgotten the togetherness, the love. We have forgotten the joy of shared meaning and purpose... So how do we remember? By forming a Tribe!
